    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.

FSXA landing light intensity varies with angle

Could any of you kind people help?
I am after implementing landing lights the intensity of which varies based on the angle at which you view them.
One of the GA developers do this very well and I have tried almost everything to recreate this effect to no avail. I am working in 3ds max 2012 with the P3d SDK, compiling for FSXA. Can't get my head around Fresnel though as nothing I do seems to have any effect on the light when changing position. In short I'm stuck and would appreciate any help.
Kind regards, TJ

You did check the appropriate boxes for the "Fresnel affects [Diffuse/Spec/Bump]" options, didn't you?

Other than that, more information would be nice.

No, have done none of that. Are there any tutorials regarding the frenell effects as I dont believe I know what i'm doing in this area at all. Tried viewing the fresnell dds file of another aircraft only to get an access violation message in dxt2bmp.

That worked perfectly Heretic Thank you. Once again I bow my head in gratitude to you and the others who help the community so selflessly.

Thank you.
