I have a few questions regarding the choice of FM in MSFS.
It would appear from what I've been reading, the 'Legacy' (FSX/P3D/ESP*) FM is meant to be used for, well, legacy aircraft*. But at the same time, I recall in one of the pre release videos, it was said that the legacy FM was "there to use" if you do not like or wish to use the modern one. Yet, the consensus seems to be that you should always use modern one for the MSFS default aircraft, and any addon aircraft developed with MSFS SDK.
(Whilst I had the Alpha at a late stage, I never really got a chance to dig around and investigate such matters, and of course things have moved on since then).
So, if you were to turn on the legacy FM in the options, do the default MSFS aircraft have, and use data from their own old format FM files, or do they use the modern FM by default? (I'm aware that ASOBO have ditched the .air file, and it's contents are now in individual .txt files, and that the some of the default aircraft FMs are locked due to 'Licensing').
And if you import an FSX aircraft into the sim, does it automatically use the legacy FM, even if in the settings it is set to the modern one?
Just thought I'd try and clarify these issues as I haven't bought MSFS yet but am considering it.
