So I have imported parts from an model into mcx but when i do i get rough lines across the model, Normally i use the smooth shade object tool without any issues and it will clean up my model so it is smooth.
On some models I get a bug when i do this, A light & puckering effect.
any ideas what could cause this and is there a fix or suggestions to prevent this.
Thanks

The screenshots below the one without texture is the issue before using the smooth shade object tool

Hi,

From which format did you import the model? Most formats do support importing normals and then you should not have to perform a smooth shade again.

The lighting issue you see might be because the door has some internal structure which affects the smoothing. But that is hard to see from these images.

Im using fsds.
I tried without the doors but the same effect happens.
fsds used to import with a smooth model but has not for a while now,

Importing the smoothing groups from FSDS files indeed has some limitations.

A while ago it was suggested to add a threshold angle to the smooth shading. I think that would also help to solve your issue. But I haven't had the time yet to implement that yet.

Ok That would be great as i have a few projects on hold until i can work around this,
Im still amazed at the amount MCX can do. Its such a great tool for us
