• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi are you making lights in the FSDS3 version?
Points are not longer supported? I want these nice shining dots:(
Thanks
Christoph

What exactly do you mean by light dots? Beacon or strobe effects like on the tips of wings on an airplane?
May or may not be able to help, will try though!

Sorry, I ment dots in scenery design. For axample red lights on top of a roof.
I can not make any picture of my old buildings in the moment. Maybe this evening I can attach one.
Thanks
Christoph

Well if it was me designing the building I would probably search the help files for adding effects to the model. Haven't searched that yet, but it sounds like you need to put an effect of some sort on the roof. I don't think I could help any further, if this was any help at all lol.

Good luck :)

Maybe not in FSDS, but you can do it externally I believe. Read this post by Scruffy Duck:

Well you probably don't need to make one for a light since there are a bunch already available. Effects are located in the Effects sub Folder of your Sim. They can be placed by a number of tools or you can write the xml directly and compile it with bglcomp. Otherwise if you want to make your own then you need the Special Effects SDK for FS2004 which you can get from the Microsoft Flight Sim Site

Thanks for your help.
I tried something yesterday with Textures.
Maybe I can also do it on this way...
It is still not perfekt but better than the old dots we used before, because you see them much longer!
