• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Light on the subject..

or IS the subject in this case. I am new to this site, but not new to Gmax modelling. I am making the Atlas/Denel Cheetah D for FS2004 first, and then also export for FSX when I am done.

My problem at this moment is the landing light. FR Bill suggest that I may want to knock here for help as well. In short, I want to add a lightmap to the landing light so that the lens of the light also shine. I've done a few things already, but when I add the lightmap to Gmax, the whole aircraft's textures disappear.

more info on the light problem can be found here: http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1277984284/10#10

and about the Cheetah: http://www.fsworld.co.za/community/viewtopic.php?f=6&p=627&sid=ed71ab9873a6ff64a167f6c8e0f5caa4#p627

If there is a good tutorial I can follow to add a light map, I would appreciate it, so I can go over all the steps, and make sure I don't miss something?!

Thank you :)

Hello Jakes,

I 'think' your problem is that you do not have light maps attached to the fuselage material(s). You can attach a pure black super small lightmap of say 128 pixels square and use that for all of the exterior textures. Then when you turn on the lights at dusk, the exterior materials should remain visible.

Thank you for the reply. I will add the light map to the rest, and hopefully it will solve my problem.
Enjoy!
