• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Lights/Light Effect

Well since the ground for my EGBG scenery project is 95% finished, I am left with some problems that I don't have the knowledge to do.

I need to add:
runway edge lights - possibly display green on the active whilst showing red in the opposite view to signal "you can't land on this side of the runway, use the other side"
Papi lights - we all know what PAPI lights job is. Just some of us don't know how to do it.
Rotating Beacon - self explanatory.

I can add lights by making a box in gmax, calling it LIGHTS_NAV and coloring the box to the color of the light I was to see and then using Arno's MDL Tweaker II an selecting "Fix lights BGL"

I want my scenery to stand out so I want to do these lights by using effects but then I would have to animate them and do some sort of mod so they turn on at Dusk, through the night and turn off, halfway through dawn.

I wish to get my lights to look like this:
runway%20lights.jpg

I am making this scenery for use with FS2004, using GMax.

For the Runway edge lights & PAPI lights you'll need to tweak the asm file by adding the separation plane, there is a tutorial HERE

Hope this helps

Yes, I know that. But I want my lights to look like the ones seen in the picture above...so I need to do an effect, right?
