• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

LineToPoint - incorrect values heading

Hi Arno.

I found that LineToPoint is generating incorrect values for the heading attribute.

If you create values for the heading attribute using the HeadingFromNearestLine operator, then the heading values are generated correctly.

Please note that the heading values obtained from the horizontal and vertical lines are almost the same and correct.

Hi,

Can you let me know which mode of the LineToPoint you are using? VERTEX, SINGLE or CONTINUOUS?

At first sight the code of the two steps to determine the heading is the same, so if you can provide me a little more background information on how you compare the two I might be able to reproduce it.

VERTEX

At first sight the code of the two steps to determine the heading is the same, so if you can provide me a little more background information on how you compare the two I might be able to reproduce it.

For comparison, I used SBuilderX adding objects from XML, and lines from shp.

Let me know if you need the source data.

Thanks, I'll have a look.

I think in VERTEX mode for lines with multiple points scenProc will take the average heading of the two line segments that meet at that vertex. While the heading from nearest line doesn't do that.

Я думаю, что в режиме VERTEX для линий с несколькими точками sceneProc будет принимать средний заголовок двух сегментов линии, которые встречаются в этой вершине.
No - it happens even on straight lines that are divided into many segments.

Hi,

I can confirm I can reproduce the issue, let me see what causes it.

Hi,

I have found the bug, it will be fixed in the next development release.

You might still see a different between the heading from LineToPoint and HeadingFromNearestLine sometimes, as at end vertices two lines can connect. And the HeadingFromNearestLine does not always select the same line as was used in the PointToLine step.
