• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA LM textures + resample ground

I'm sure a lot of us tried this before, but I wonder if anybody found a solution: using landclass lm textures together with resample ground.
If you don't define a night layer in the resample, the LC night textures are blended through at night. This helps if you don't want to create custom night versions of your resample.
But I always get issues with this: not all LC lm textures are blended correctly, they appear and disappear with no apparent logic, some of them disappear when the user gets nearer, some stay. (see screenshot: the whole area should be covered with lights, not just the left part)

Has anybody found a solution for this?

I guess nobody had that before, weird. Wouldn't be good to create night versions for I want to use the LC scenery as a night version for some resample scenery.

Need to come back to this - and hope it's going to be a discussion rather than a monologue... :D

If I understand the SDK and FSX correct, as soon as you provide a night version in the resample, this is rendered at night, and as long as you don't do this, FSX will render the LC lm textures below.
It seems, though, that there is some bug that prevents FSX from doing so at any occasion. Is there something one needs to do to force FSX to use LC lm textures? I found that for some resample areas it works while for others it doesn't.

Hi Horst,

To reassure you (or not): yes, I experienced exactly the same and found no solution but to make photoreal night textures..

I have to pick that thread up because what you described does not show up in my work.
You say without a _LM tile in the resample inf the default night ground textures show? I've never seen this. When I accidentally forget to resample with the night mask my day photoscenery shows with all it's brightness at night.
Maybe it has something to do with your blendmask?

Cheers,
Mark

I am guessing he means using Day, but no "night" source.

A black blend mask (additive) should give the day textures, with no extra light.
