• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

loading of real world weather

An annoying feature of FSX when loading up a saved flight using real world weather is that this is not downloaded before the flight starts. I have to manually do this each time. Should be automatic if RWW is the 'saved' parameter.

Not noticed this in 2004 though!

But, if the sim did that, a person would not be able to save any weather they found interesting with a flight. (??)

What I am saying is, if you go to Orlando, Florida, with a hurricane just offshore, and you have nasty wx there, and you create a flight there at MCO, once you save that flight with that nasty wx, the next time you loaded the flight, the sim would re-download the weather, giving you clear skies. Bam, your whole hurricane wx saved flight is gone.

weather options

Mace,
I agree your point should you wish to retain an interesting weather pattern. if you have 'RWW updated' installed it will download new weather anyway (eventually) so the beginning scenario will be lost regardless.

I suppose the best option when restoring a saved flight with RWW is to ask at the outset (before continuing the flight) if you want to retain the saved or renew the weather. The system could then switch to RWW static or updated as appropriate. Obviously the former option would not refresh the weather information.

I believe this solution would work to both our satisfaction.

You could also key the weather into the advanced option of the Custom weather dialogue. I have done this on several occasions to annoy my son.:D

Happy New Year
