• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I am looking for designers with FSDS V3.0 or the like.. interested to join my team to start construction on a Lockheed L-188 Electra for FSX that will have a virtual cockpit and cabin. I have FSDS V3.0 and a lot of pictures/videos/layouts of the L-188 Electra... I also have Flight Sim Sound Studio v1.0 and have a L-188 sound package to work off of. I am interested in someone that has some good experience with FSDS and maybe working with flight dynamics or designing virtual cockpits. I could also provide all of the pictures/vids/layouts if someone is interested in joining my team :) Email: merculiv@gmail.com

Send me an email if you are interested or send a message to my inbox and I will respond ASAP.

Maybe I looked too long onto my own screen, and missed it, but FSDS V3.0 is a tool for FS2004 format, and the FSX update isn't available yet.

Since everything in FSX aircraft models ( shapes, materials, animations, tags, effects ) is different than in FS9, using a tool for FS9 to start with isn't a good idea to me. But maybe I just missed it...

Well heres the scoop...... I will start the core model and general design with FSDS 3.0 and the model will be converted accordingly with the 3.5 update once released since 3.0 models will be forwards compatible with the 3.5 update. As with previous versions of FSDS this is also true... and as far as converting the model into FSX I can use tool from FSX deluxe to make a true FSX model. I can also make a version for FS2004 with mkmdl so that folks flying the FS2004 can have the model as well :) If you have any questions about joining my team just send me a message or email. Thanks for your reply..

Thanks for the offer, but I have enough ideas myself to keep 20 developpers busy  .

I just have experience from GMAX, where I created about 150 models for FS9. Not a single part of them could be used for FSX (repectively if I take them, they look weird ), so that new materials, new mappings etc have to be created, the new XMl tags, effect tags, animation schemes etc anyways, no more functions due to namings - just do not take this too easy. Now I have about 28 model finished in FSX, and have another 200 to do...

One of the things I've begun doing to ease the process on new models, given the mandate from my employer that all new projects must be released as FS9 and "true FSX" models, is to begin using the same process used in FSX for animations in the FS9 model.

Meaning, I reverse translate the modeldef.xml scripts to FS9's MakeMDL.parts.xml syntax, then use keyframe animations in the FS9 model...

What this means is that when I need to get the FSX version of the model ready, all that's needed is to use the Animation Tool and Attachpoint Tool to add the needed associations between the parts and the XML script blobs... :D

Not with FSDS3. the X file produced by FSDS3 can be run through xtomdl, but you will not get any animations, etc. (the same as if you ran a straight x file from gmax captured with middleman.
