• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Logo Light Switch Ejets V2

Hello FS Developers!!

First, congratulations on such a cool forum! I wish I had the talent to do this, however as I do not, I will leave it to you folks.

Second, I did a fairly broad search (I am not that good at searching) to find a solution to my problem. No solution that I could find.

Third, I do not wish to embarck on learning how to develop models etc, however it would be great if one could learn how to modify existing models.
Can one modify an existing payware model?

My problem is that the logo lights on the Feelthere Ejets (E175,195) do not work. They come on when you turn on the cockpit lights but that's too chincey for me. I'd like the logo light switch which is not simulated to turn on the logo lights. (I'd settle for them turning on the cabin lights too). I do not care for an all or nothing switch though, having them all come on via the cockpit light switch. Why give a dead switch?

So rather than try to re-invent Rome, I thought I'd stop by here and ask you folks for some guidance on this.

I have asked for help on other issues over there on their boards and they are ok for basic user info, but if you get very deep into the aircraft they well, that is why I am here.

Also, as long as I am here, they have the radios "hotwired" to the battery bus or something like that. In otherwords, I can have the sim cold and dark, jump in, and call up the ATC menu. Then if I press the ATIS option I can get ATIS. LOL!!! I have no BATT or GPU switches on. APU of course is not fired up. I'd like to be able to fix these things if there is a way to do so.:(

Would someone please point me in the direction I need to go?

I appologize in advance for not doing that great of a search on this however I am trying to spend my down time in the sim and not searching for solutions to things I'd like to have working. So a heartfelt thank you in advance.:o

THANKS

Jet

You've asked many good questions, most all of which unfortunately are answered by either no, or cannot be done... :(

No, you cannot modify any compliled models, freeware or payware. That's just the nature of the compiling process.

Although there is a "logo" switch in FS, it actually doesn't really do anything unless the modeler has made efforts to make it "do something."

"Logo lights" are typically painted on the lightmap(s). As a result, any light switch at all will cause them to "light up." That's simply a limitation of FS. One of the options modelers have is to use the "logo switch" to turn on/off an effect file, which quite often is a very poor choice.

The better option would be for the modeler to duplicate the areas (such as the vertical stabilizer) and have the logo lights switch between the unlighted and lighted versions.

NG,

Thanks so much for your response!! Well, at least I know now so that helps.

I will have to give FeelThere a lot of credit then knowing this, that at least what they did made sense! I would rather have an all inclusive :D switch that takes care of all mundane switches like cabin lights and logo lights, in one switch.

Thanks again!
