• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

Longer Starter time ?

Hi everyone !

I am currently working on my Huey Project and I can’t seem to figure out How to get a longer stating time after switching the starter button …

As of now it is instant and the rotor blades start turning immediately.. there is no time for the starter sound file to be played …

Does any of you have an idea of how to change that ?
I am using the default DA62 engine config with slight modifications.

The sim has always assumed there was a quick starter.

normalized_starter_torque=0.8

and

starter_time=0.5

are the main variables but you can't program a slow build up with these.

You can try

shaft_torque_tc=2

which may affect how long it takes to get the starter going. I haven't tried it myself.

For custom starters I have captured any engine start key events and written my own code to rotate the prop. Then at the appropriate time I can send the starter command and let the sim starter system take over.

So I tried that and now my starter time is wayyyy longer (which is good) but unfortunately the Auto start function (ctrl+e) is not working anymore as it only holds the starter switch for 15 seconds and the amount of time required would be more around 50 seconds of holding it....

I don't know how to fix that!
