• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Longleat - what is it..??..

hi all,

I'm still using FSX Steam Edition now in 2024 since my old DVD version is hidden (may be lost) in a storage room and I can't find it anymore

anyway, I just found in the custom scenery settings on the main FSX screen/page before starting or loading a flight, a file about Longleat

so, it may be a silly question, but what is it?? I can't find an airport with this name, or in this city or town or whatever it is...

hence, I'm asking here, what is this Longleat about..??..

the closest I could find in my research is the Longleat house/estate in Wiltshire, England, or a Safari park (that might be in the same area, I don't know)

yet is not clear to me what custom scenery we have in FSX, to eventually visit for sightseeing maybe

thank you in advance to those that will point me in the right direction

It's the safari park. I'm a long time off FSX but IIRC it was touted as a viewpoint. 'Fly low and see the lions'.

Wasn't Longleat also the site of one of the Red Bull style pylon races that was available in some versions of FSX? In the 'Missions' section maybe?

oh, yes, sounds a bit familiar about the Red Bull race, I'll check it out... I think I did try that race so long ago when I first got FSX, before 2007, that I totally forgot about that...

Does anyone remember what airport is close to that safari park, so I can check it..??..

Main airport will be EGGD, 30 miles NW. If you're into grass strips then EGHA, 20 miles south. Suggest you use EGHA if it's available - it's a beautiful little airfield in RL.

as a side question guys, since I'm here now, can someone give me step-by-step instructions on how to add a GPS approach in ADE..??..

I'm not new to ADE, I would consider myself a bit above average in skills and knowledge using ADE, but I am no expert, so I never added a GPS approach, and I'd like to try it...

especially considering that it appears in the US in the next 5-10 years the FAA decided to decommission the VOR/DME and ILS use, due to high maintenance costs (I think), and most of the airports will have to eventually rely on the GPS...

so, how do I add a GPS approach using ADE on an airport that has none... if you give me basic instructions, I can follow the steps

thank you
