• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

LWcfg again

Suppose you've made a freeway traffic with SBuilderX for a airport project and you wanted to slow down the vehicles .
You use sbp2xml and make LWcfg.xml , rename LWcfg.sbp to LWcfg.old or whatever extension and edit LWcfg.xml trafficspeed to 050.00 for your region .
Did all that and traffic was OK .
Then l decided to reduce the number of vehicles in LWcfg , and left only about 10 out of over 100 in the file. Did not see any difference and left ONLY one . No difference .
Removed the file LWcfg.old from FSX root . No difference
Removed the file LWcfg.xml from FSX root . Run FSX , Freeway traffic is running without the LWcfg.sbp or .xml file in FSX root .

l was under the impression that freeway traffic is controlled by LWcfg , or so l have read everywhere .

PS : There was a map with the world regions . Could someone remind me what was it's file name . Thanks

Thanks George

There is a LWcfg.spb file in Users/user/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX but it has been discussed all along that one should edit the one in FSX root , which apparently is not correct .
l replaced the .spb with a .xml in the address as above and it works as far as the reduction of speed is concerned , which proves that this is the one that controls freeway traffic , but
as l mentioned in my previous post l only left 1 model vehicle in the .xml list for freewaytraffic and running FSX the whole bunch is still present .

So sorry, George,

I meant to say image_globe in the same folder.
And it does not have anything to do with freeway traffic but you wnated to know where the map with the world regions was.

Hi Roby ,

No problem . l think l was not quite clear in my query about the map with world regions . Actually l was refering to the one relevant with the LWcfg FSX world regions .
As you know regionID , A,B,C,.......Z is necessary if one wants to tweak LWcfg.xml for his particular area .My regionID is "O" , yours is "A" etc.
Eventually l found it burried in an external HD l don't use anymore and it's called "FS10_Regions.JPG"
No problem in reducing speed and number of vehicles in freeway traffic for my region , but l haven't figured out as yet which is the source ,i.e. from where LWcfg calls
the vehicles with their GUID to appear in freeway traffic . l am working on it .

PS : You were supposed to receive a FSX Freeware Scenery that has a train going around a curve. Did you ? Can you make something placeable in your own project ?

Hi George,

Yes the LIRF scenery is very nice bur I can not open the train bgl. Anyway, the moving train is probably done the Gmax way i.e. adding a number of animations to the model, the how of which has been explained somewhere some time ago here in one of these forums.
Regarding freeway traffic, I think you will find everything you need in the propdef\proplivingworld.xml.

Roby

Hello Roby ,

Hmm , one of these days we have to do something about trains . l have myself a very nice airport scenery with trains , which move nicely on curved paths .
As a matter of fact they actually stop at the arrival passenger platform for a spell then move on a curved rail for a distance and drive back and stop at the departure
platform for a while then drive on until they desappear in a tunnel .
Impressive but unfortunetely it's not possible to place them in one's own project .

When it comes to freeway traffic l have achieved what l wanted , i.e. replace the freeway traffic default vehicles , with vehicles of my own ( l mean Hama's) and they look pretty good .
Problem is that there are not many available , and some of them don't work (appear) properly . l'll have to work a bit more on this .
Still it's much much better than having the ugly default ones especially when you have freeway traffic coming in a nice looking airport . They spoil the the whole picture .
