• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

A little patience wouldn't hurt. You should really give people more than 3 hours to respond to your question.

I don't use FSDS3 myself, but I would probably start with a cylinder object if I want to get such a shape and then move the vertices till they have the correct shape.

Arno is correct. In FSDS3 to smooth the roof and not all the polys on the building, select all the roof polys, right click on any view and select "current item properties". Then change the smoothing group to 1 (one). This should make the roof smooth and not blocky.

Ok , thanks but there isn't cylinder shape in FSDS , do you mean i will start from new Tube or from new Box or i make cylinder from template mode .
If you have the orginal project it will be better...

Thanks,,,,,

A tube in FSDS 3 is the same as a Cyllinder in GMAX. Arno is used to the GMAX names for primitive shapes. I did a quick project to give you an idea how to make it. Your airport...you need to do the work. It will pay off well in experience as you move on to more difficult projects.

I used a tube of 5 radius, 16 sides, 10 length, 8 sections and closed both ends. Then I moved the points where they needed to be to make the "baloon" roof. All measurements are in meters.

I just made a 4 sided 8 section tube, lined it up with the roof and followed the roof line out with it.
