• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Make City Larger

My apologies if this has been asked and answered, if so a simple link to the forum would work. But I am re working an entire city, at the request of my VA. I have updated the airport using ADE with proper gates and runways. I just need to make the city itself larger. The city has grown and is now much farther south and west than it currently is in FSX. Nearly twice as large as it is in FSX. Do I complete this with ADE, or how can I accomplish this? I will upload a photo if that helps to see just how much larger it has grown.

Hi,

I think there are two ways you can do this. One is to alter the landclass for the area around the city. The landclass defines the type of terrain for blocks of around 1x1 kilometer. if you want it more precise then that you could use a terrain polygon as well to place the city texture in the areas where you want it (still using the landclass textures).

Normally I would use SBuilderX for such tasks, as it is a good tool to make terrain scenery. But I think ADE can also place terrain polygons (at least for flattens, but probably also for other textures). Not sure if ADE can edit landclass.

So maybe you could first try to place a city terrain polygon with ADE and see if that looks as you want.
