• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi all,

I think it is time I make a new stable release. The current version 1.2 is too old and too often people have trouble because they use the old version.

But with a new stable release also comes an update of the manual. The current manual is also lagging a bit.

But before I spend a lot of time on the manual I would like to ask what kind of documentation you need most.

Howto's describing common tasks, detailed descriptions of each editor or function or maybe a long video tutorial walking through the entire tool.

So let me know what you would find most useful.

Arno,....

I know your busy etc,.. but I believe a simple Howto's describing common tasks (manual) with a tutorial to accompany the manual. Less words to type and making it simple to add more if a new function appears.

The Tutorial could simplify tedious areas to farther describe multiple functions and the order of how things could be done.

I know manuals can be a pain in the butt especially when explaination is needed. I think,. letting the manual state what the function is and letting the tutorial show how its used is probably the easiest way to do it.

Hello Arno,

I think the way the ADE manual is done is the best way, i.e. with a lot of screenshots as examples.
Start out with the simplier things and gradually make it more complicated by explaining the extra's like what you have to do when wanting to make lods, attach things to the model, convert textures, etc.
Most first time users will start with a bgl, a gmax or FSDS mdl, or a GSU dae.
So I would focus the manual on the beginners and point the more advanced onces to your tutorials.
Then look at the MCX questions and wonder how come it is seems so complicated when it isn't once you know how :D.

Roby

PS (so sorry:(): my apologies for the worthless environment mapped object. It took me hours to make it and apparently I deleted it without knowing. Should I make a new one?
PS2(oh nooo:o): you could leave part of the work to somebody else that is willing to give you a hand. State your idea of how to and revise afterwards when necessary. I believe you would find that some people would gladly lend you a helping hand, me included.

I totally agree with Roby on this,... the ADE manual layout is the best. Starting out simple on each of the functions and giving simple examples of each with pictures.

I, again, agree here as well,...

A great suggestion,... why I didn't think of that,.. oh well... I'm sure, Arno that anyone here would be willing and no less honered to help in creating the manaul.
