• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

MCX animation exporting error

Hi,

I'm preparing some Blender to FS descriptions, with animations. It works quite nice, but when I am exporting the model from MCX to FSX, I get the following with the rudder animation:

Full extent to the right works fine, rudder goes smoothly all the way to the right and stays there (I'm using keyboard now).

Full extent to the left works erroneous, initially the rudder deflects fine and smoothly, but right at the last key tap, the rudder automatically jumps into neutral position. Deflecting back, it jumps from center to left, then smoothly to the center.

What could this be? The same encountered with ailerons, but I'm testing only with the rudder now.

If needed, I can provide the files!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

How many frames did you use for the animation? I believe that is kind of fixed for those animations.

But I'll see if I can reproduce things.

I used an animation of 0-100 keyframes. Though, I tested it with several numbers of keyframes, and at all the same occured.

The strange thing is, that when I import the .mdl back to MCX, the animation works fine. But not in FS.

So the question arose if it could be a problem of my own pc/FS. But when loading the default Cub, all worked fine.

So. I don't know. If you need the files, let me know, I can send them this afternoon!

Regards!

Hi,

It might be that the animation is not exported correctly. If you would have a file to test that might indeed help.

Since I am not an aircraft designer myself, I don't know all the specifics about aircraft animations yet.

Right, here's the file!

Thanks in advance! It's still a bit pioneering in the usage of Blender, but it works quite fine anyway.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay, are you still dealing with this issue?

I just had a look at your file. The animation definitions seems OK, the only difference with some default aircraft I can see is that they use 3 keyframes (0, 50 and 100), while in your file there is a keyframe at each frame. Maybe that explains the different behaviour?
