• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MCX MCX does not export point lights to XPlane OBJ Format

Attached is an OBJ with the lights manually written in. If I open the object in MCX the lights appear fine, but if I re-export it only the spot lights are written.

I can get around this by manually changing all my point lights to spot in MCX, but I just thought this might be a bug that you might want to know about.

Zev.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting. This issue was reported recently to me as well, you are right that exporting of point lights is currently not supported. I could not find a good light type/name to use in X-Plane. I see this model uses "area_lt_med_bb" for the type, would that be a good choice? In the previous report the type "spot_params_sp" was suggested. But I could not find a good overview of X-Plane light types in the documentation.

I think its a matter of artist preference really.
I have no idea what the general consensus is.
The good news is a quick find and replace within a text editor can be used to change whatever default choice you use, after the fact.

Ok, I guess I can also make the light type to use an option.

Hi,

I have implemented this feature by now. It's in the current development release.
