• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 MCX Error decoding Bgl (MCX 170 and 180)

That error happens when the object is too small for makemdl. You need to add a fully transparant box to enlarge the bounding box.

Typo on the phone, just a transparent box to enlarge the bounding box and makemdl will work again.

Hi Guenther:

Finally back; SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) decided to do some shopping on the way home from the hair dresser.

I do all custom Fx placement with discrete files on disk, so I must defer explaining intricacies of MCX Fx Editing to Arno.

If you have further issues after getting your Fx Edits in place, I shall check back to see how compilation goes for you. :)

So, Arno, where / how can we view the Fx Controller code being used in these FS9 3D models with attached Fx lights ?

And why are (Ambient ?) Animations being used in these FS9 3D models that have attached Fx lights ?

Who else, but she?

Finally I succeded with my idea on one object.

Performance and fine adjusting has to be done (and the missing 6 objects because of bounding boxes).

No more today, perhaps tomorrow.
Thanks a lot for your help

And MCX130 is buggy too.
The first picture shows the object and the effect correct as desired.

After exporting it, FS9 shows it wrong:

It looks like the exporter ignores the direction of the object.
