• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MCX stops responding

Hi,

I've just made a ground poly in SketchUp and when I go into MCX to convert it to a .mdl file, MCX stops responding... is there something I have done wrong?

Thanks

Hi,

Are you using the ground polygon wizard?

Depending on the complexity of your ground polygons, it can take a while to process them after you press the convert button. When the conversion is done the form will disappear. During the process the GUI might not respond that well.

Sorry Arno I'm not quite sure what you mean. All I did was click "Import" and selected my COLLADA file. Thanks for the reply

Hi,

Ok, then your problem is different indeed.

Are there are messages in the event log? And how big is your collada file?

Ah I think it's solved - I was using too high resolution photos, so I downsized them to a suitable size (1024x1024 lol) and once it has exported I'll replace it with the higher resolution file. Thanks Arno

Hi,

How big were your original textures? ModelConverterX should not hang with big textures, although it would use more memory of course :)

Ok. Weird. Let me try later to reproduce this.

My 2x ... 2048 x 2048 seems to work ok (using 5 or 6 such textures).

Not sure if that helps, or whether it is a memory problem.
