• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

If the last version of FSDS was v2 (thats what I started with) then you had the options of create BGL, MDL, SCA,SCA/API

With v3 you can create - scenery object file bgl/mdl
aircraft file mdl

You can export as an .x file
.xml scenery header (which I am sending with your request)
.xml

That XML file alone does nothing, you need it together with the MDL file that is loaded in the ModelData command. The XML alone gives you no scenery at all, only errors.

But if you are using tools like Library Creator XML or ObPlacer XML you don't need this file. Only export a MDL file from FSDS and use that in the tools. These tool will create a correct XML file for you.

I can add to your library creator, export to your object placer, create an xml, compile it to a bgl, finally, except it won't show up in fs9. Thought I might have the same problem as the guy with the glider, but it isn't. I'm sending a copy of the xml created from obplacer (I don't know what a good one is suppose to look like) If you can check it and see if there's something wrong I would appreciate it. Have played with these programs for a week straight. Ended up deleting them and starting from scratch. If only I could get them to appear they would be great.

Hi,

This XML looks fine, so that one should work. The only thing I see is that you did not use Library Creator XML for this one, as the MDL file is loaded directly into the placement file. That is no problem, both approaches should work.

Maybe you can sent me the XML/MDL/BGL files you created, then I will try here on my PC if they appear. I guess that is the fastest way to solve this weird problem :).

You can email them to arno [AT] scenerydesign [DOT] org
