• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.

What is tecnically the difference between a Mobile Scenery Object (MSO) and an AI object?

Also, I have looked into the default FSX missions (Tutorial 6 and UFO Mission) and I haven't seen any MSO at all.

Where can I see a MSO in action ?

Thanks

A MSO is a sim Object that moves. I believe the animation for the object is built into the MDL. It will move in a very specific way and in a very small area. ie the elephants in the elephant rescue mission or the birds in the amazon mission. You could take these library objects and add them to your free flight and see them move. An AI object airplanes, boats have waypoint list added to their functionality. The FSX AI controls when the airplane, boat starts and programs it to follow the waypoints.

My Livingworld program allows you to add simobjects - elephants, whales, aircraft, cars trucks etc to follow waypoints not a true AI but as sim Objects that can travel large distances.

I am trying to add train AI to the sim, but that needs a whole new way to make long AI objects follow a curve.

Thanks ronh for the info. I will try your tool.

EDIT: I just loaded the Park Patrol Mission. I see the elephants as MSOs

Thanks!
