• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi Arno, I occasionally pop by to bother you.In the past, I've made scenery for FSX/P3D, but now I'm experimenting with MSFS2024 (only small airfields). These days, I've realized that my scenery doesn't have object collisions. I've searched online but haven't found much (I don't use Blender or 3D Max).Would it be possible to introduce this feature in future MCX releases?
Have a good day.

You would need to set the collision attribute of the material to true. Or for a complex object it probably gives better performance to make a simple shape that aligns with your model and assign an invisible material with the collision attribute to that. This can all be done with MCX already.

I didn't know this, but where do I set the material collision attribute to true?
This isn't clear to me. On MCX, the only collision setting is in the export settings options, but it doesn't work on MSFS.
Could you be more specific?

Thanks.

Okay, I found the parameter in the materials, but it doesn't seem to work. I can get through it without any problems...
What am I doing wrong?
I have MCX version 1.7.

:)

Ignore the message above. I calmly ran the tests again this morning, and everything works perfectly.
Thank you, Arno, for your dedication to providing us with useful programs like MCX.
Have a nice day.

Glad to read that you got it working!

Did you just enable the collision attribute or did you make a special geometry for it? For the latter action I guess I could maybe extend MCX a bit in the future. To make a simple geometry to use as crashbox.
