• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MODEL converter X and FS2XPLANE problem

Hi my name is lsasdf nice to meet you! and I tried converting some P3D airports to XPLANE11 with FS2XPLANE but I got an error and the conversion didn't work. So I searched once and I need to convert the BGL file to xplane11. What should I do? I've been searching for 5 hours. I'd appreciate it if...and i dont know how to use converter X

Hi,

MCX can not convert everything that FSX2XPLANE can. What does your airport BGL contain? If it is the 3D models and such MCX might be able to convert it. If you load the BGL and then use "Export scenery"to save it as DSF file, you will get a placement DSF file and the OBJ files of the models in there.

I'm not sure because it's my first time doing Scenery Conversion. Would it be okay to ask more questions if I don't know more? Thank you for your answer(and i am xplane11 user)
Then, to convert BGL, should I convert to Modeling Converter X and convert to FS2XPLANE? and What is MCX?

Hi,

That means your BGL files only contains the objects, but not the information where in the world they are placed. It is not possible to write only objects without the placement to a DSF file.

I am not really a X-Plane scenery developer, so with X-Plane specific question I might not always be able to help.

MCX is the abbreviation of ModelConverterX.

um..ok...but how can i solve?

So that means you can't convert just this BGL, probably there is another BGL file that contains the placement. To be able to save to DSF in MCX you would have to combine that information in one BGL file. Like I said, MCX does not just convert a complete scenery like FSX2XPLANE does.

So, should I give up converting? I bought a P3D scenery with money, but I really want to convert. There are many same scenery convert successful people around me.
