• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Awhile ago I noticed on the updates to the Developer release there are three folders now in the root folder that were not there before.

The two I am curious about are X64 and X86.

Both of these folders contain proj.dll and shapelib.dll.

I have searched this forum and looked at the Wiki manual and can not find where those files go if anywhere.

I am just kind of assuming that based on your system 32 bit vs 64 bit those files need moved someplace else.

Of course for what I use the program for everything works with out moving anything.

Curiosity is just getting the best of me. :)

Hi Dave,

I update all the time - seems like almost daily lately - the folder I use is not on my primary hard drive... I believe you leave everything as is in the zip file - I delete the old contents from the directory I use - copy the new contents of the entire zip folder to the directory I always use - and - launch... I have a shortcuts built to the executables and they still work fine after all the updates...

Regards,
Scott

Hi Dave,

May I say your nickname is chosen very well? :D Just moving the files around could be a bit dangerous and will prevent the tool from working.

All you need to do to install ModelConverterX is unzip the ZIP file to a folder of your choice. No other actions are needed.

The two folders you refer to are indeed for 32 and 64 bit versions of certain DLL files that ModelConverterX can use. But the tool will automatically load the version needed, depending on your OS. So if you have a 32 bit OS it will load from the x86 folder and if you have a 64 bit OS it will load from the x64 folder.

So just leave them where they are and then the tools will work fine.
