Hi everyone,

i´ve load this wonderfull tool ModelConverterX 1.3 by Arno to convert my runway with the Ground Plygon Wizard.

But I have a problem. I can´t see the converted Polygon in FSX.

What have I done:

1. For a test, in Gmax i create a plane 3000x60 meters and exported it to an .MDL
2. I´m open the ModelConverterX and than the Ground Polygon Wizard, load the .MDL and can see it in the 3D preview window.
3. Write the Position, Altitude in Meter, the Heading, Convert it and place the .BGL in the scenery directory from my Airport.

Fired up the FSX and.... nothing to see from my polygon.

What i´m doing wrong? Can anywone help me?

Many thanks
Oli

Hi,

Are you sure the textures are in the correct folder as well? Missing textures can sometimes cause missing polygons in fsx.

Hi Arno,

thx for your answere.

This test was without textures (standardoutput from Gmax), but i´m also tested it with texture and the texure is in the right folder, because i´ve tested before with ADEX.

With ADEX it was to see. But ADEX and a long rwy is not acceptable. The ends flying because the round earth in FSX.

Your tool would be perfect, when I can see someone in FSX. I wish, this is my fault, but I don`t know what.

A normaly work:
I began with ADEX. Make txiways and rwy in the correct position and safe this in a own folder in Addon Scenery. Activate the scenery and I did see it in FSX. All OK.
And the next step was to make the rwy new in Gmax (The FSX Gmax). For a test I put the .BGL with help from ADEX in FSX. All OK but with the flying ends.
And so I delete the .BGL and make the new .BGL with your tool with the right coorinates, altitude in meters, hdg (was copied from before) and put it in the scenery folder (I read from yours in another thread, I don`t need ADEX in this work, because the coordinates comes from your tool). The .DDS was always in textur folder. But, I´m sorry, there nothing to see. Everytime and with and without texture.

Thank you
Oli

Edit: For better find a solution: The missing SCASM (without this, your tool cannot convert - error message) I downloaded from http://www.scasm.de/txt/download.htm and it was the file SCASM296.zip. In this was only the .exe file and I tell your tool in the options the path to this .exe. Of course unpacked. I hope, this was correct.

Maybe trying with the development realease ,it's a newer version of MCX. and in any case upload the .bgl if the problem persist.

Hi,

i´ve news.

1. I had wrong coordinates. I meant the coordinates from ADEX are the same as ModelConverterX (dd.dddddd°), but they are dd° mm.mmm'. So I was upset it. OK it is now right. (48.23322100 14.18748000)

2. WHEN i am use the Convert Wizard, i can see the polygone on the right place in FSX. Of course with the flying ends.
Wonderfull here is the function "Show map". In this I can see the exactly position from the object, and I can switch it with my mouse. I LOVE IT, because so I can place objects out of an airport without long-winded edit the .xml. Many thanks for this tool Arno.

BUT....

3. WHEN i am use the Ground Polygon Wizard with exact the same coordinates I see nothing in FSX. I have no idea, what here is going wrong.

ModelConverterX 1.3 Problems - The Solution

Hi everyone and Arno,

after tested and tested and tested and tested and tested :) and 3 days later i found out follow.

When I maked a scenery, I don`t maked difference between Alpha or not Alpha channel. Always I convert the texure with "Dxtbmp" in a DDS 3 file. This is a habit from me and my scenerys work good.

BUT NOW I have to brake with this. When I want to use the wonderfull Ground Polygon Wizard I must make difference with Alpha and DDS files.

The solution:
When I make a texture without Alpha and convert it to DDS 1 or 3 or 5, nothing is to see in FSX.
I must convert it in DDS 1 (without Alpha), or I let work the tool to convert the texture. And only than the polygone is to see in FSX.

The result:
Many time are lost with This (my mistake) and the solution was always soooo near, but I can´t see it.

But now it works fine... very very fine and i´m happy.

Many thanks for help and have a nice day
LG
Oli
