• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi There....
I recently moved over from Windows XP and installed Windows 7..I use both FSX and FS9, slowly getting used to it. I used to repaint and used MCX for previewing my work..Decided to have another go. I've re-installed MCX and keep getting an error message when I want to use it, this is waht I'm getting: (apologies a bit long)

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

It mentions JIT Debugging..not clear waht that is BTW...I'm installing the .mdl file as before and the .bmp file with the correct title..so it isn't that ..that long since I did it I might be forgetting something though :scratchch
Thanks in advance
Best Wishes

Hi,

I notice you are using version 1.3, you might want to try the development release (version 1.4) and see if that has the same issue.

The error seems related with the 3D preview, so you might also want to check if the graphics drivers are installed correctly in windows 7. Modelconverterx uses OpenGL.

Thanks you for the prompt reply Arno...I'll give this a try..I hope it's not a graphics issue :(
Thanks
Ralphc

Hi Again..seem to be getting 'pointers/links' to the 1.3 version ..How do I get to the 1.4 version please? Apologies..
RalphC

Check the sticky thread in the modelconverterx forum. You can get the latest version from scenerydesign.org.

Hi Arno..
Found it and installed it on my desktop...no joy. Still getting an error similar to the previous one...this time when I go to launch it! :( This is an excellent programme and I really rate it...repainting will be awful without it! :scratchch

"....so you might also want to check if the graphics drivers are installed correctly in windows 7. Modelconverterx uses OpenGL..."

Please, how do I determine this..or more to the point...where is it on my PC?
Thanks for your time re: this
RalphC

Hi,

Did you install drivers for your graphics card? The default windows drivers are not always so good.

What kind of graphics card you have?

Hi Arno..
Sorry for the late reply: NVIDIA GeForce8600 GTS /Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E6500 2.393GHZ Not that clued up on the technical stuff. I wasn't sure where to find the 'Driver' You're dealing with an IT Neanderthal here I'm afraid :scratchch
Thanks
RalphC

Hi Arno...
Sorted it!! :) I managed to find OpenGL and install it in V 1.4. Just done a quick test run and it worked. Happily. What I did manage to do was screw up my graphics display in FS9 and FSX when messing with my NVIDIA Control panel...everything just got bigger and blurrier!! Thanks for the guidance re: this..learnt something new again
Best Wishes and thanks for your contribution
RalphC

Glad to hear you got it working.
