• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Mouse Cursor issues when using Project Editor MSFS 2020 ONLY

When using Project Editor, it is not uncommon for me to have issues where the mouse cursor does not line up with the "button" I need to select. Move the mouse around the general area, and the button will highlight and I can select it, but the mouse is NOT over the button I need.

This has been going on for several versions of SDK.

Anyone else experience this? Is there a fix?

Thanks all!

Reposting, no answer since original post 1 year ago. ALSO, This only happens in MSFS 2020. 2024 seems to work as expected.

Hello:

I used to get this now and then as a result of changing display resolution on desktop to a setting different than that set for MSFS.

If both resolutions matched I would have no problem.

Usually, however, I would have to restart Windows after I reconfigured the display resolutions so that they matched.

Thanks for the reply Gary, but that's not what's happening here. I was hoping someone else has seen this issue and would reply.

Mouse pointer (Project Manager and all PM windows ONLY) "click box" is not where the mouse point is pointing to. Mouse works great in all other menus, and in ALL PM windows for MSFS 2024. Only MSFS 2020 PM and associated windows. I also notice that the gizmo (translate, rotate, scale) does not "line up" with the mouse pointer either. Strange.

Hi again:

I based my reply on personal experience and the info in this thread:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/mouse-issue-in-developer-mode/528657

IIUC, you refer to MSFS SDK DevMode Scenery Editor GUI due to Gizmo involvement ?

And yes there is a discrete GUI dialog system which MSFS SDK Docs refers to as Project Editor as cited in the OP.

AFAIK, they may both be impacted by the configuration issues discussed in the thread linked above, but this may merit further inquiry, so I will search some more, and will report back if I find something more that is pertinent to cause / resolution of this anomaly. 😉

Thank you, sir, (Or should I say "TYS?") LOL! 😁

I totally misunderstood the original reply you sent! (Guess I was more exhausted than I realized that day). I looked at the link, and yes, indeed, my resolutions were set differently! (How could I miss that?) My monitors were set at 1920x1200 and MSFS was set for 1920x1080. I knew it had to be something relatively simple.

Thank you, Gary, for a great laugh! I actually did have to look up IIUC. I work for GE, on MRI and CT scanners. Sometimes I think "GE" is an acronym manufacturer, (it's even in their name.) It's like working for NASA.

Anyway, thanks for the highlight of my day, (so far)
