• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi
true; but the new blender exporter plugin have new way to add lights; it has changed; this is official as it was discussed in devsupport forum.

code in gltf is changed.

If it will be released in 3 days from now, I don't expect that they will make huge changes to the glTF structure at this moment in time.

I have put the issue on the MCX issue list. Before starting to add support for MSFS 2024 I plan to first release a new stable release of MCX. So the changes for MSFS 2024 will come in MCX 1.8 probably.

Say what? The light elements are different enough that they no longer appear in MCX, the Asobo developers are working madly to meet the deadline and the three days remaining only highlights the waning relevance of the most recent tech alpha. There really is no objective way to determine what from that latest release remains. However, this and every page header still expects an explosition of 2020 activity, if anyone is looking for things to do in anticipation of MSFS 2024...

I fully expect MSFS 2024 to be full of bugs at release. As far as the use of MSFS 2020 SimObjects (including aircraft) and model objects in the new sim, chances are they just won't be 'right'. Asobo will be concentrating on getting the sim's bugs ironed out. 2020 conversions will be on the back burner for a while. Devmode and SDK are still in development as of this date. https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/

The SDK was only pre-release approximately 10 days ago and it wasn't complete. Microsoft pushed the release date, not Asobo. So as Rick and Dick have said... there will be bugs and more changes than just "lights." If the only change were only just the lights, Asobo would have announced the release date with the SDK more complete.

But still nothing wrong to report already that MCX does not support the new ways lights are done. And if people come across other changes also post them here so that I can build a list of things I need to check/improve.

If the new lights don't show in MCX something must have changed in the glTF :)

yes; the light code is different than fs2020; now you can only add lights using the asobo plugin; is not done any more using standard blender add / light.
