• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

multimaterial

Hello,

Here I am again. I'm making a complex building and need to use more than one texture for one object, I need to do that with the multi material function. But I don't know which face of the object needs which texture, I know that later, is it possible to begin texturing some parts of the object and when one texture file is full make a new one and go further with that one? Or should I make the texture files first, then assign which part need which texture and then start with texturing?
Also, where do I find a good tutorial about multimaterial, I've never done it before.
Thanks.

Problem again:

I created a multimaterial and assigned material with ID1 to the polygons I though I would use in the first texture file. I textured it, but I forgot to give some polygons material with ID1, however I could texture them. I saved the file and exited. Then I opened it again and the textures appeared only at the polygons with material ID1 (ofcourse logic) But I wanted some other polygons to be ID1 too. And that is my problem, I just can't give them the right material. I followed the same procedure, select polygon in editable poly, choose surface modifier, material and give them material ID1, textured it again and exited to test it, but it didn't work. What am I doing wrong :banghead: I also tried some other thing, but none of them worked.
Please help me.

It is still not clear to me how to use multiple materials on one editable poly, in combination with unwrap UVW.

[edit]
Tried somethings and I think that I know the problem:
When working with unwrap UVW and when I hit planar, some of the faces does have lines in the edit map and some doesn't, they only have those white (and when selected red) rectangles. The ones without lines are not showing up when I saved and restart, the others show up. I don't know why some have and some doesn't have those lines
