• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Multiple AnimGraph animations

the attached mesh vanishes and a B-52 flying level spawns from that spot.

"That spot" being a keyword. It will not be "that spot". It will spawn some distance behind from where it was when attached to B-52. That distance will depend on how fast you and B-52 are moving. The gap will be noticeable and quite distracting... :(

Who will fly X-15 when attached to B-52?

Yes, the spot offset is about consistent with the update lag I think. I tried to compensate with the missile and they end up spawning about a quarter mile ahead. I feel like if I add a little deployment animation to the wingman, doors open, a flash and some vapor trail effect, then the missile pops onto the vfr window a quarter mile ahead after radar acquires it, might be acceptable, especially if it goes on to make some random AI aircraft blink out.
For the X-15, the solution is pretty straightforward, the launch configuration will be quite specific, you could rig it so it only deploys at the specific speed that has been calculated with the proper offset to spawn the B-52 in the mesh footprint of the attached B-52 and any slight separation could possibly be perceived as a consequence of disconnection.

I think the X-15 would have to be flown by the test pilot station. I'm not opposed to including multiple cockpits that could possibly be organized with camera views, but it's not something I've explored at all and the addon wouldn't really be about B-52. I mean, realistically, test pilot is sitting on his butt reviewing checklists until deployment, but I think the most important thing missing from a standalone X-15 would be the view dropping out from under the B-52 and then accelerating as the bomber falls away and also the view of the same scene from the bomber. You could make the skin glow like Darkstar and possibly reverse the effect to simulate the LOX tanks.
