• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Multiple Water Bases

I've successfully built a water base runway for amphibious planes and now a I need to duplicate it several times in different locations. I don't wan to redesign them one by one, instead I wonder if I can modify the 1st one by changing its location. I've tried everything but I have not being able to do it. I've changed the name, coordinates etc. etc. from the original but when trying to run MSFS it quits until I remove the additional runway from the community folder. Any suggestion or duplicating is not possible at all? Thanks

Hello:

If you attach- or link to a download URL for- a ZIP Project Backup file output via ADE Menu > Project > Backup ...we may be able to offer some help with your task.

Now the duplicate files is giving me the following error (attached) which I've never seen before, I'm also sending you the original file without the names and coordinates changes. Now it won.t let me build the duplicate file. thanks

Hi again:

I believe that MSFS SDK requires each airport to be assembled / compiled within its own Project and Package folder chains.

Your project shows (3) versions of the original airport source files within several sub-folders. :alert:

AFAIK, troubleshooting of this project may best be done by Jon Masterson (Scruffyduck), or Richard Ludowise (rhumbaflappy).

Thanks for your help. I guess a better start doing them one at a time, I have to do 20 of them for my project. So far I got 3 😂😂

Hi Gary,
Afaik there is nothing preventing to add multiple airport objects in a single SDK project

So copy/pasting in the .xml, changing the coordinates/ICAO/naming will work, but doing that manually can be a challenge, especially for runway startup positions that are mandatory and must fit withing airport bounds

Thanks for that clarification, Federico. :)

I have not yet located the section in the MSFS SDK Docs that explains how to do what the OP is attempting.

Thus far, the only Sample Project I have found in the MSFS SDK Docs that is 'somewhat' topically related, is "Simple Airport":

https://docs.flightsimulator.com/html/Samples_And_Tutorials/Samples/SimpleAirport.htm

I assume that the OP merely wants to create multiple "airport" type BGLs, with (1) BGL per each airport ICAO

...all of which are output into (1) package sub-folder chain when he has compiled his Project.

Thanks in advance for any additional insights you may be able to share on this topic. :teacher:

Yes, I was trying to make things easier, but I think that at this point I'm better off doing one airport at a time since I've realized that I have more overall control
