• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

multipolygons

Hello Arno,

Does the scenProc support multipolygons?

After some troubleshooting (some forests not appearing in my scenery) I discovered, that most probably the forests with type=multipolygon are not processed by scenProc.

Can you please confirm?
Is there any workaround?

Thanks,

Milan

thank you for the tip

but isn't that done by default?

the manual says that you must specify not to process holes

no problem :-)

after some experimenting I found out that the multipolygons actually are processed

the problem must be in my conf file

I will have a closer look at conf file

Just a follow-up

the conf file is OK

the trouble seems to be the importogr step and in particular setting the lat lon area to process

when I used rather a narrow area around my troubled multipolygon forest, it did not appear in the scenery
when going larger and larger, it actually appeared

is it possible that setting the lat lon area to process somehow cuts the features out of processing if they stretch outside the set area?

i cant think of anything...
you should prob post a snippet of your script;
so it will be easier for Arno to help you when he chimes in,

Hello,

I can confirm what I wrote before - it seems that once the rectangle area set in the importogr step "cuts" through a multipolygon, it is not processed at all and does not appear in the scenery. The normal polygons are working just fine.

This is an issue when working with batch processes with rather high terrain LOD grids.

Milan

Hi,

I would need to check, but how the position filter works is something that the OGR library does internally (same goes for handling the multipolygons btw). So I'm not sure if I can do much about it. I'll try to find some sample file to test it with.

Hello,

I found a workaround - I process overlapping areas to make sure that if in the first one the multipolygon does not fit in entirely and is not processed, in the second one (the overlap I use is 0.2 degrees) it fits (most probably). It seems to work OK so far. Of course, an IMPORTAGN step has to be used.

Regards,

Milan

Ok, it's still on the bug list to check if I can do something against it.
