• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

FS2004 N2 Needs Limiting.

First I am a newb at air files example 1502 1503 1504 1505 1506.

Willing to learn. I do not have a clue yet how to read the array(s)

What I wish to do (IF POSSIBLE) is adjust my engine on my Beechjet so that the N2 does not get ahead of the N1 which it does now.

In the real world the N2 limit on the JT-15D is 96%. Yet when I go for full power at or near Sea Level, the N2 goes up to 106.7 percent. N1 on the other hand goes to 104% where it is supposed to.

What I have done to date is to fiddle with the aircraft.cfg to no avail. No matter what numbers I enter into the cfg file I get the same N1 and N2 results. Dynamically there are changes. IE how the aircraft flies etc. But the engine readings are way off.

I then went on to fiddle with Air Wrench to no avail. Nice way to edit the airfile however.

I even went on to Aired where I, uh, entered into a fetal position an cried for mommy.

LOL.

I fly the Beechjet for a living and cannot get past the pointers on the N2 gauge going way past red line and off the gauge itself almost.

Am I stuck with this is there help? I know I have a good bit to learn but I am willing. Thanks.

Sure... I can fix it... However, just like when I made the original FDE... I have no performance data available to correct it. :) Very hard to 'fix' it without concrete performance information.
 
The other part though is that I am really wanting to learn how to edit air files. So I am glad you chimed in as I would think you'd be the guy to ask! Thanks Warp!
 
Without performance data it's going to be very much a finger in the wind (aka jet eflux) exercise I'm afraid. As you fly the real a/c surely you must have access to performance data. At the very least engine limitations which will give you the correct start and end points.
 
Yes I do. High Speed, Constant Mach, and Long range cruise. N1 and N2 limitations etc.
 
Alright! On the ground, the engines behave as they should in so far as N1 and N2!

103 N1 and 95 N2 just 1 percent under limitations for both at Sea Level.

Glad you got everything you wanted. It's no easy task. Next step take your aircraft to Kuwait and see by how much your engine limitations are exceeded!!

Well, this is still only the beginning. My next posts are going to be on adjusting 1506 and 1507 per Roy's paper.

What is needed for slow guys like me is a paint by numbers, labeled sort of how too. :confused: Maybe we can come with one :).
