• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Need help deciphering an error

Hi all, first time here but not first time using ADE9. So my story is I've been with FS9 for many, many years but recently my aged machine finally sighed it's last breath. However I had the sim on it's own drive, not C, so was able to get it back up and running fairly easily on a new computer. The snag is ADE9 refuses to compile anything I make or modify with the following error:
ade9 error.png

Any ideas? I seem to recall a similar problem in the dim past that turned out to be a problem with a different file path or something. Thanks for any help.

Thanks so much both of you. Gary, your second link seemed easier and it looks like that did the trick;)

Same here but with SFO. This is the message I got.

Hi Robert:

IIUC, you processed AF2_KSFO FSX.xml using Airport Design Editor 1.65; that is a very old version of ADE for FSX output.

I recommend immediately installing and using ADE version 1.79x instead:

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/ade-1-79-7417-development-version.447374/

https://www.mediafire.com/file/i6xk38ghqjomykp/ade_current_dev.zip/file

That said, you definitely would want to download / keep for reference, ADE 1.65 PDF Manual from ADE's archive page:

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/ade-downloads-page.459372/

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/downloads/manual_english_165.zip

After installing ADE version 1.79x, "Open" the original AF2_KSFO FSX.xml file cited above in 1.79x and make your edits there.

Alternatively, if an edited version of the AF2_KSFO FSX.xml file cited above is in a 'work' folder, "Open"/ edit it in ADEv1.79x.

Next, before attempting to compile to BGL, run ADE Fault Finder... and "fix" any cited issues found.

Then let us know if you have further outstanding issues, by opening a separate 'new' topic in this ADE forum.

I'm not sure why you are using Version 165. The latest version of ADE which works with FSX is version 179. https://www.fsdeveloper.com/downloads/ade_current_dev.zip
You should uninstall the version you have by deleting that folder. Then install the latest version, linked above.

The actual error above is pointing you to a closing xml tag <ils> near line 201 of the produced XML file. You could look for the error there. Or, you could use the latest version I wrote about, and if it doesn't do any better, then zip the project, and attach it to a post for someone to try to debug it.
