• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Need help please Little problem to create taxilines !

Hello !
I need some help to create taxilines with Blender

I've some difficulties with taxilines.
For that, I proceed like DxTrans http://fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/ground-polys-blender-to-mcx-to-fsx.432465/ :
1 - I create a plane as bevel object (red circle on the first screen) and another plane for the line.
2- I draw my line by extruding vertices
2 - I convert the two plane to "curve from mesh" (Alt c)
3 - I apply the geometry by bevel object : The line is extruded.
Ok
But After I forget something I think. As you can see on the screen below, in edit mode there are no faces, just a grey shadow under the line
Then, there is Nothing to unwrap for apply textures (I think that normally I should have faces in edit mod)

Edit mod

Object Mod

What I have to do after these operations ?

I made another try with success starting with a circle. I can texture my line
But this time, the taxiline don't appear in fsx !

I thank you for your help !

Hi
Sorry for this second post but :

This morning, I made a new try, following step by step the advices from DXTrans. (I thank her for his tuto)

1 - I made two planes and transform them by deleting two vertices. The plane with the blue circle is my reference (bevel object) and the other is the futur taxiline

2- I draw the taxiline extruding the vertices

3- I press alt + c to convert my mesh, the taxi line and the reference line to curves. Then switch to my object data menu and add a Template

4- I press alt + c again and texture the object, (unwrap using "Follow Active Quads" -> "Length Average").

5 After that, I export the scenery to a mdl file and import it with ModelConverter X.

And, as you can see on the picture, I've the problem. Nothing appear like of the taxiline did'nt exist

I don't understand !

Somebody can help me ? Why the object is not visible Under ModelConverter X and of course, on FSX ?
One thing is Strange : In MCX, in the "Layering and visibility column", there are no material/textures loaded. It's why the line don't appear, I think. But why MCX don't load the line material ?
I haven't this problem with the others objects.

I answer to myself ! But it can help others guys

I applied this solution :

In general, when I create a ground surface like a plane, I apply for it, under blender a material (with FSX material parameters for the transparency) and a texture.
I convert my scenery to mdl. After that, I load the mdl with MCX, apply layers priorities and export to bgl. That's all

But for me this way doesn't work for the lines ! If they have a declared texture for theiur material under blender, they don't appear under MCX and FSX
For them, the solution is a little confused :
- Draw the line and affect to it a material with a specific color
- Export to dae
- Under MCX, I import the the dae file. Apply diffuse texture manually by material color
- Export as scenery in bgl file
- Import this bgl Under MCX via Ground polygon wizard
- Set the layers priorities
- Export again Under bgl file

And the line appear in FSX

But, there a question without solution. Why this complicated way fot the line and not for the simple planes ! I haven't answer ...
Maybe somebody can help with that
