• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

New FXEditor error

Hi Arno all right?

I haven't used FXeditor for some time, today I downloaded the latest compatible version for P3D V5, but I encountered the following problem:
all my effects with attribute
[Particle.0]
Type = 28
give an error and touch close.
Did I miss something? It's been a long time since I followed the SDKs and their evolutions.

Thanks.
Antonio.

Hi,

Can you send me the file to test?

Hi,

I can't reproduce the problem here, on my machine that FX file loads without any error. I remember a few weeks ago I got a similar error report by private message.

Did you install the latest FXEditor in a seperate folder or do you have it together with ModelConverterX in the same folder? I think it might be something conflicting with a MCX setting that might cause this, but I can't reproduce it yet.

Hi,
It was in an old FXeditor subfolder, I moved it but the error remains.
However, I found what could affect the error, if I select "day" the problem does not appear, as soon as I choose "night" the error returns
I repeat it happens only with spotlight effects with "Type = 28" with all the others it seems to work well even with the selected night.

I have an RX 5700 as VGA could be a card problem? With the previous version of FXEditor everything works well even at night.
prepar 3d v5 is installed in C: \ Program Files \ Lockheed Martin \ Prepar3D v5

Hi,

Let me try to use night mode as well, didn't do that yet.

Hi,

The night option was the trick. I have been able to reproduce and fix the error now. So in the next development release it will be fixed.

:)

Hi,
thanks for solving.
I have a question to ask you: but is it possible to see the dynamic lights effect in FXeditor?

At the moment the dynamic light is not rendered correctly yet from FX file (in either MCX or FXEditor), that is on the wishlist. In MCX the light is only shown when the setting to convert the FX to spotlights is on.

Thanks ,
kind as always Arno ...
I downloaded the latest version of MCX and now it shows when the reflector is created, my old version of MCX 1.4 did not display light but only dashes, now at least I also see the effect on objects.
Good evening.
Antonio.
