• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hey people!
So I have managed to solve it in the past by using a different version of MCX but recently I have been left with no choice but to just use the latest dev release.
The FSX and P3D versions all work well but the FS2004 GP wizard gives me very see through GPs has anyone fixed this or had the same results?

Hi,

Do your textures have an alpha channel?

First shot from VC second from 2D, obviously the 2nd is how it's meant to be but I'm getting see through textures in FS9 only

Yes, I'm seeing the same thing for some time now. I found that I had an old version from 2014 on my external drive. This works fine and does not give any transparency in FS9. No alpha on my texture either. Only difference is which version of MCX/GPW I use.

You wouldn't by chance be able to Dropbox me that version would you?

It would help if any of you can provide a sample file with the problem, then I can try to figure out what the difference is, instead of reverting to a 7 year old version that has many bugs that have been solved over the years.

Arno, attached is one of the model files I'm having trouble with and one of it's textures. Thanks for your help. Soarfly I'm thinking that it's better to wait for Arno to fix the problem than for me to pass an old version around.

Hi,

I have been comparing the SCASM code generated by the GPW in the current build and in version 1.3, and I think I have found a bug that might cause your issue in FS2004. As I don't have FS2004 myself installed anymore, I can't test it. But the next development release contains a fix. Can you let me know if that helped? Else I will have to dive even deeper :)

Yes, I published a new development release yesterday evening.

Happy to hear that fixed it.

Arno I'm sorry to report no joy for me. I'm attaching some pictures to show you what I am seeing. Thanks for your help.

Hi Ed,

One difference I spotted in the code is that in the old version the material list had all white colors, while in the current version I write the colors as they are specified in the material. Could it be that this material has a non white ambient or diffuse color maybe?

Hi Arno,

The ambient material color is 26,26,26. I used the material editor to change it to 255,255,255. But that made no difference in FS9. I'm not using a material in sketchup. I'm just covering the polygons with the texture. The zip file that I attached in my earlier post contains the model in collada format along with the texture file. Attached below is the material editor box in sketchup and what the ground polygon looks like if I compile with the 1.4 stable release of MCX.

Hi,

Could you enable the option to keep the intermediate SCA files? And then send me the SCA file from the version that works and from the latest version. Then I can do a comparison on the two.
