• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

No shaddows in fsds

Hello fellow simmers

I use Fsds to create my scenerys ( i prefer it to g-max ) , but resently i have come on to a problem.

In Fsds i create houses , roadesighns , lampposts and so on and then make a bgl-file to my sim from Fsds and everything works fine but when it comes to , in my case , fences , the problem begins

In my sceneryobject i want everything exept the fences around the house to cast shaddows in the sim.

I have tride changing a lot of pre-processise in the part proppertys ( and i think it´s somewher there the solusseon to my problem is ) without any sucssese.

At the moment i make my fences in Fsds , then creating api:s , send them to FS Scenery creatror and place them there.

So everyone understand that is a timeconsuming and not so very fun job trying to align houses and fences in different programs , so my question is :

Is it in some way posible to make single parts of a whole scenery project , having a lot of parts , not to show any shaddow in the fs but the outher parts do?

Is it posible in my favoriteprograme FSDS?

Hi Rogga,

That would only be possible if you tweak the API macro manually afterwards (so that some parts are not included in the ShadowCall command). But directly from FSDS this is not possible.

It is probably easier to make two different macros.

No shaddow in fsds

Thanke you wery much for your quick answer Arno.

I´m not sure i made my self cleare before ( or maybe i´m just tired now ) but i do not want to make api macros of my intire scenery , instead i make bgl:s of everything directly from Fsds to the sim , whithout using any outher program ( not at the moment , but i hope to be able to it )
I know hove to make the changes to the shaddowCall in Fssc to speciffic Api macros but i whish i would be able to do the same changes to speciffic parts in Fsds and then compile everything to one bgl-file

Yours tired and comfused

Hi Rogga,

I am not an expert in FSDS, since I have not used it anymore for 3 years or so, but if I remember correct that will not be possible. You can only get an effect like this if you tweak the SCASM code manually somewhere along the line.

So if you want to get a BGL directly out of FSDS, I am afraid it will not work.

Ok , well . who is the expert :) :) :)

I´m really greatfull to your answers to my questions and your efforts trying to help me , but somewhere in the back of my head i think the possebiletys is in the pre-processis , but never mind , you tried to enlightend a newcommer.

To my next problem , and everything is as before , making bgl:s directly from Fsds.

Is it posioble to make a object ( tree ) rotate whith the aircrft .

I use Eod now to make Api macros placing them in Fssc now , but what about Fsds?
