• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

NO texture issue

Okay ill try to be as detailed as i can

Sky Blue Radio asked me to do scenery for them. KBJC is the airport. If completly Re done the AFCAD, and added a SBR building and Hanger. Someone from SBR did repaint for the default Lear 45 and King Air 350. I tried to get them into the scenery. useing SAAM and making a libary with them.

I made a lbrary with 4 aircraft, king air and lear one with the door open, and one with it closed for each

heres my issue. I get warning messages when loading the scenery saying the FS cannot open the textures (the directory dosent exist). the Modles appear but solid black with no textures.

first attempt i added the Librery to the scenery folder (along with the textures from SAAM) and activated that librery in the sceanery library.

next i tried putting the objects in the Scenery/Global/scenery folders. same result

then i copied the textures to the Main texture folder in the main FSX directory (this was apparently what fixed the issue for someone else after i visited this fourm) but alas same thing

so i removed the objects, delted SAMM and reinstalled it. Followed the manual to the letter and tried with a all default Lear (that is Lear45, aniversary texture, default SAAM config) this time the aircraft did not appear at all.

so now im comming here.

im running FSX completly up to date, SAAM is up to date. I used ADE (its up to date to) for the scenery. Im running Windows 7, FSX runs as Admin, SAMM and ADE run as ADMIN as well.

im not shure what could be the issue. althoue i have a theroy. when i move the files into the scenery folder i notice the texture folder for the aircraft (the one from SAAM) divided the texture for each varient into seperate folders. i moved them all to one folder (KBJC/Texture) that how ive always done my scenery but this is the first time ive used SAAM. do the texture need to stay in the seperat folder?

another thing it could be is that im not running in compatabilty mode. Should i run it in compatabilty mode for windows XP?

thanks for any help. forgive any bad spelling. this keyboard is wack, ive corrected several words contaning letter i swaer i did not type. althoue i type relativly fast and have big fingers

You haven't told us how you placed the models. This sounds very similar to an issue that occurs when placing SAMM models with Instant Scenery , discussed in a stickie at the top of this forum.

I used ADE to place the objects. Added them as I have added hundreds of other object library's . They show up in ADE. As a yellow box, the proper size. I'll test my texture folder theory tonight when I get home. But I'm 90% share everything is installed and added correctly

Unless you told SAMM to use single tier textures, the textures for each static model must remain in two-tier format, i.e., a texture sub-folder for each static aircraft in you main scenery "texture" folder.

Okay keeping the texture folders intact did work. only one issue witch is aircraft related not SAAMs fault. the KingAirs props appear to be turrning even thoue i set the engines to be off. oh well it will work. Thanks for the Assistance.

the KingAirs props appear to be turning even though i set the engines to be off
If this is an FSX aircraft, you might try to locate a FS9 equivalent. FS9 aircraft are generally well behaved in SAMM, some FSX aircraft not so much.
