Hey guys,

Is it possible to use nVidia Texture Tools plug-in with Corel PSP X7 to create a Normal map ?

I worked with it when Adobe Photoshop was my paint program but i don't have that program anymore.

If the answer would be negative is there any other way to create a normal map with PSP X7 ?

Thank you very much for any hint/tip !

Cheers,
Jan

The Wiki at Valve says that the NVidia Plugins don't work in PSP 9, but there's a Thread in the NVidia forums in which someone at least got the latest version of the DDS pluigin to work in X5.
Might be worth a try then.

In case of doubt, there always is the free Photoshop CS2 and of course GIMP with a normal map plug-in. I don't know how well either of them plays with importing .psp files though.

I bought a 3rd party utility I like called "crazybump". I just went to their website, and their price went way up since I bought. but the google search brings up a number of low cost alternatives to crazybump.

Thanks, Björn ! I gave CS2 a go but too much hassle while not knowing if it'll work (W7 isn't even mentioned yet in the OS list). GIMP looks great ! Just need to install the nvidia plug-in. A grayscale copy of my texture loads up fine to begin with.

Thanks for the tips, mate !

Wow!! Completely forgat about that ! :D

Must've been FS9 and probabely XP still. Now you mention it i remember it very well. It worked wonderful indeed ! I see what you mean about the price. That's another Wow! And certainly don't remember that ! ;) I didn't bother to install the trial version, i bet the safe option is disabled...

I'm going to try GIMP first, good feeling about it. Thanks for the reminder, Bob ! :)
