• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Numeric Keypads no Longer work for Look Around Views in P3D

I don't know where the problem lies but my numeric keypads no longer allows me to look around, or move around from side to side in P3D. Yes, I have the Number Lock key turned on, so that is not the problem. If I turn it off, it will fly the airplane. I know I can do the same thing with the hat switch but I prefer the keypad. This problem did not exist until after I installed both the FSDT JFK version 2 and the GSX. My brother also said the exact same thing has happened to him. We are thinking that the GSX may be the problem and don't see how the JFK scenery could be causing it. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Are you are saying your keyboard settings got remapped? Are you prevented from going into the settings menu and re-assigning them?

No, I don't think that's the problem. I just found out from FSDT that it's a P3D bug and it all started with version 4.2. It seems like every time a new version on a product is released, it's nothing but more issues and is not really an improvement. And it seems to me they would know these things before releasing version updates. I ran the keyboard settings and I don't see anywhere I can check the mapping or how to remap it if got remapped. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even show the numeric keypad. It just shows everything to the left of it. Would that be an indication that it's been remapped?

I have had P3Dv4.2 installed since it was released. I've had no problems with the numeric keys as you've described... :scratchch

Have the same problem but only when using certain aircraft like the F-18's. Check if that is the case?
Otherwise no problem once keys and joystick buttons are correctly assigned.

Hi Bill,
I'm glad to hear you're not having that issue. When I first installed P3D just recently, I had no problems with the side views using the keypads. It all started with the installation of the FSDT GSX and the FSDT JFK version2. For those of you who are having this issue, bare in mind that the problem IS NOT caused by any of the FSDT addons, including GSX. It is a bug in the P3D version 4.2 that is causing the issue, and I've confirmed that with FSDT and Lockheed Martin. Lockheed Martin said they will fix the issue in the next version release. It's a well known issue but I was never aware of it until now. Do you have GSX or any of their addons? Apparently, something is not compatible.

Another problem came up when installing the Flightbeam Studios addon. I installed the Legacy KSFO, which says is for P3Dv4 in the setup, and after launching the sim, I got a message saying that the caulti has stopped running and to download and install the latest version of the stand alone addon manager. I've already done that and yet, it seems like I keep getting these error messages every time I turn around and install an addon, and I'm getting very frustrated and angry about it. Since then, the cauli would not run again, and every time I tried to restart it, it would stop and I get the same message. So, I had to run the stand alone addon manager again to fix it. From what I've heard, prior to version 4.2 of the P3D, there were no issues like these until version 4.2. Now, one has to turn around and spend more money for a later version of an addon so that it works with the later version 4.2 of the P3D, but that is no guarantee because of compatibilities. One thing to note is that the Flightbeam Studio addons no longer uses the FSDT addon manager, and that could have been the factor for not being able to install the legacy airport KSFO. It would not work in the P3Dv4, even though it says it works for version 4.2. I've though about trying to reinstall the legacy to see if it works since running the addon manager for the 2nd time, but I didn't want to go through all the trouble of having to run the stand alone addon manager again. I'll wait and contact them first as well as FSDT.

Yes, I did that. The keypads will not provide any side views, no matter what aircraft I fly. I've confirmed that it's a bug in the P3D version 4.2. I'll see if I can post that link here, if that's okay.

As was stated by L-M... it is caused by SimConnect apps... something inside the sim goes wonky when there is a SimConnect app connected to the sim.
