• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

OBJ Import Incomplete

Hi,

I've never had this issue before nor have I found anyone else with this issue on the forum. When importing this obj, I consistently have missing faces. I've imported it in several formats but this specific model still continues with this issue. Does anyone have any idea? Any help would be appreciated!

How the model looks prior to import. Model looks good in the default Windows object viewer, Blender, etc.

Hi,

It's hard to say from these few pictures. It might be there is a bug in MCX that it does not read your polygon correctly or that a complex polygon is not triangulated correctly. Would it be possible to share the model for testing with me?

Absolutely! I will send it to you now.

Hi,

I had a first look at the model and it seems the issue is that same triangles are shown facing the wrong direction. If I make them double sided it looks better. I need to check why the orientation is wrong for them, it's probably related to the normals.

I am not sure yet. Most other tools I can load the OBJ file into show it always rendered double sided and then the issue is not visible. MCX does not do that. So I am not yet sure where the issue is. You might want to double check if all normals are oriented correctly.
