• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Object Not Showing Up

Here's another one. Two issues:
1) My tower has 2 parts added. They are a red colored rail. Both of these parts do not show up in the sim. They show up in fsds fine.

2) I place the tower in a library and add it to my scenery via ez scenery...but it doesn't save itself! I restart the sim and only the tower is gone.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I viewed your object here and I don't see a railing either. So are you sure that you exported it correctly from FSDS after adding these parts? If you generate a new MDL file, you also need to make sure that you rebuild your library BGL to contain the new MDL.

About the EZ-Scenery problem, when placing objects with EZ-Scenery they do not end up in a BGL file right away. You need to be sure to save it in one in the end. Else the object will indeed not show again the next time you start FS.

One of the quirks I've noticed in FSDS is that if you make railings by using the "lines" function for a structured tube or box, it will show fine in FSDS, but won't translate to the sim. Apparently the lines are too small.

Well, I was wondering if I had saved them and I believe I had. At least, I went back and redid my mdl file. The railings are just tubes. They are from a saved part list...could that be it somehow? I will try again tonight...scenery creation is driving me crazy.

Argh! I completely redid the railings....made them IN the scenery...and yet they still do not show up when placed. Here is the new file.

OK, that's completely wierd. If you could post the .fsc file here or email it to me I'll try to get to the bottom of it. I've PM'd you my email address.

Danny,

It's on its way back...fixed. It was a problem with how the part was named and how the material was applied.

Enjoy!
