• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Object placement tool?

A little off (related at least) topic, can anyone direct me to the aircraft tool that's simply a three axis model? I used to have this(a computer and several hard drives ago). I'm using ADE's library placement tool with the sim connected, and this would greatly help me tweak my light placements. Thanks for any help!

If it's the red and white stripped Crosshairs Plus by Gary Mills, et al it is available at Avsim,

Doesn't work in FSX, when I tried a couple of times to install.

Lance,

I have reworked Gary's Crosshairs plus to work for FSX but never released it. I need to add a readme to make sure credit is given to the original authors.

meshman,

I found that the crosshair "aircraft" lacked some of the default folders (panel & sound I think). I added them and mapped the alias files inside to point to non-existing a/c and the tool loaded up.

I'd forgotten that fsx will ignore a/c that don't have the basic folders.

Maybe this will work for you; thanks for pointing me in the right direction for the download!

Lance,

Do you think this object would be of any use? I use it with whisplacer in the live preview mode. It is calabrated in meters to allow you to see how big things are in the sim.

I'll Share one trick i've devised to use. I create a few aircraft models - i've found some free 3ds files as well as created plane "poeple" set to the average height of a person and from there reference my objects height and even widths and lengths according to the reference objects, i've created.
