• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Please run the ADE Environment Checker that is installed with ADE 1.20. It is found from Start > All Programs > Airport Design Editor. This program checks to see if you have the correct things in place for ADE to work. Make sure also that you have the latest version. If you installed version 1.20 then please get the update installer for version 1.35 from AVSIM and install that also.

ADE Environment Checker Found an ERROR: Registry missing the trailing backslash

Hi,
I've the latest updated version of ADE 1.35.
I run the ADE Environment Checker which says, 'Your FSX path in the registry is missing the trailing backslash. This could cause problems with many FS related tools and you should correct it.'
Also be advised that I reinstalled the FSX but the problem remains the same.
Please help me!!! Thanks for your cooperation!

Hi Faisal,

Many programs rely on the FSX path variable, therefore this test is included in the ADE Environment Checker.

My first suggestion is that you add the trailing "\" to the path. You can do this with your registry editor. Depending on your OS please navigate to:

  • XP: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0
  • Vista: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0
Here you will find a key with the name SetupPath. This path is missing the trailing backslash. Please edit the string so that it ends with: \

Let us know if this fix the problem.

FSX path Problem Solved but still ADE giving the same error during opening

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciated!
The path problem has soleved and ADE Environment Checker tool is not giving any error message. However, the ADE opening error problem remains the same: type initializer exception.

Please help me!!!!!

This is a very unusal error message. I can only recall seeing it once before and it related to fonts. The error is from the Graphics engine and the drawing of text messages. I wonder if you have any unusual setting on your system for font sizes or screen resolutions. Unfortunately we have never been able to generate this error in the development team

Problem solved! Thanks all

It was just my other foreign language fonts were conflicting with ADE. So I removed them and now ADE works fine. Thank you very Jon and Martin!!!:):):):)
