• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 P-3C Orion

The Mighty Orion!!

I did some military service as a crewman on one of those (in fact, that is how I got my name Ripcord -- unfortunate training incident). Great aircraft, it served a long time.

Do you mind explaining the unfortunate training incident for us? :p

First ever training flight, had to learn how to locate my parachute, take it down from the overhead (ceiling) and put it on. All went well, except for that last part. While trying to adjust it up on my back, I pulled the ripcord by accident and the damn thing deployed right onboard the plane. So I had to gather it all up and take it across the tarmac to the hangar, and then ask for forgiveness at the PR shop. Half the squadron was waiting for me by the time I got to the hangar.

Not a good day for me. Life was hell after that, at least for awhile, until I changed my license plates on my little red chevy pickup -- RIPCRD. Then I was able to integrate better into squadron life after that.

Hahaha that's a great story! We all made some mistakes that keep haunting us ;) Self-mockery (is that a proper word?) is the best thing to do in such cases, like you did with your license plates

It could have been worse! It might have been DET CORD...

Hahaha I have the strange feeling the very same thing would happen to me and I'd be entangled in it before the landing haha :rotfl:

corrected the main landing gears!

Hi,

Love the plane! Great job!

I am a little late to the party as I have just noticed this thread today. I have some pics of a RAAF Orion from the 2015 Avalon Airshow. I tried posting them directly but the image uploader wasn't working. They may be too large. Anyway, if you want to take a look, I have zipped them up and here is the link:

By the way, I am going to the 2017 Avalon Airshow at the start of March. It's not guaranteed, but possible a P-3 will again be on display. I would say more than likely, as it is not far from retirement from the RAAF. Let me know if you need any photos of any particular section of the aircraft, and I will see what I can do.

Cheers,

This is so cool thanks. Could you possibly get tons of pictures of the Cockpit? Like every corner?

Not sure about the cockpit. It is unlikely that access will be allowed. Most of the aircraft are fenced off. I will ask though, and see if I can. You never know, I could get lucky.

Cheers,
