• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Is there any way to have PAPis visible other than by cutting a hole in a GP polygon?

It would seem that ground polys cover stock lights. There's nothing I can do in ADE_GP to correct that.

An alternative would be to model your VASIs/PAPIs as BGL lights (instructions in Wiki). In my own airports, I also add a simple model of a housing. Looks very realistic. (Check out either CYYJ, CYBL or CYXX - all available from http://stuff4fs.com)

I think you have three choices:

1. As Don suggests, make a 3D PAPI installation.

2. Place an ADE apron under your current hole, with a surface specified so the hole more closely matches the GP-poly. Then use single yellow GP lines to fill in any missing line segments over the hole.

3. Do not use large GP polys alongside the runways - use ADE aprons. Then create the yellow chevron lines using a custom GP polygon texture that has black alpha channels outside of the yellow lines, to allow the lights to shine through.

Hope this helps,

You can download the FS9 gamepack and most other FS9 SDK documents from a site in, I believe, Denmark. I realize this isn't very specific, but a search for FS9 SDK will probably identify it. Or, any number of users could provide it.

Thanks, Tom.

Wish I'd known the FS9 SDKs were available from fsDeveloper the last time I needed one.

Thanks both,

I downloaded from here and it seems to work, but, I get an error on export.

I'll post in the GMax forum.
