• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Parking and Radius Issue

Don, I am experiencing an issue with Parking and Radius when using AIFP. My project is custom made and works well in the sim with the exception of AI and having parking issues. As i try to determine the cause. I noticed that AIFP give me an error message that says that the aircraft used in the traffic file is either not installed on my system or that the parking radius is not set nor can be read from the aircraft.cfg. Please note in the background of the snip, you can see that the aircraft is installed on my system. So that leads me to maybe the parking radius i and the lack of it is the trouble. I read through the forum and saw where the parking was an issue back in 202o. Not sure if i missed something, but i am currently using the version shown in the AIFP-2 snip. When i was using FSX, I populated this project with AI that worked like a charm using your Program. This parking radius issue has got me stumped for now. Please share any thoughts you have. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Gelomare, since no aircraft are shown in red, AIFP "knows" the aircraft are installed. So, as you have determined, the issue pertains to parking radius. This, in turn suggests either AIFP can't find an aircraft.cfg block entitled "[aircraft_geometry]" or if it's found the block, it does not contain an entry entitled "wing_span".

AIFP uses the wing-span field to determine required parking radius.

Note that MSFS aircraft contain several "aircraft.cfg files under various other names.

Note also that this missing item will not affect use of the traffic file in the sim (other than I have no idea how else MSFS will make its own determination of parking radius.) It is only of use to AIFP in the parking and Traffic Analyser.

Don, Thanks for the reply. I was able to locate the entries you mentioned. They are part of the flight-model.cfg in msfs. Does AIFP search and read all of the configs or just the aircraft.cfg? Is there a way for me to get that file read by AIFP? As that should do away with the error messages on the parking radius. Thanks again for helping me to understand all this.

I would remind you first that parking radius is not needed for AI traffic generation; it is used only in the analyser.

Whether or not it can be fixed is a different matter. If this is the only feature of the analyser that doesn't work with FS2020, then I will do my best to fix it. (I know I programmed some feature to look at multiple MSFS aircraft .cfg files. Hopefully, it's just a matter of porting that software over to the analyser. On the other hand, if there are more analysers feature that don't work with MSFS, trying to fix them all likely would be an exercise in futility given that, even after 18 months, MSFS is still in a state of flux.

Leave it with me.

Don, understood. Thank you so much. I know much will probably change before msfs is complete. I loved this tool on fsx and still have that joy of using it even now. Have a great holiday experience.

Please give attached a try. (Just copy into your AIFP folder overwriting the earlier .exe - but backup existing .exe first)

It's not been fully tested, but the wingspan issue should now be gone.

Don, that took care of the issue! Thank You for such a great and powerful tool. I will continue to test as i work on my project. This program is the only one that allows me to bring AI to my custom-made airport project. I greatly appreciate it and You.
